Meet Abi..Documentary Wedding Photographer

I’ve been a documentary wedding photographer for over twenty-five years, with a career that has taken me from high-profile celebrity events to intimate, story-filled wedding days. For twelve of those years, I was the Senior Photographer at OK! Magazine, where I had the privilege of capturing some truly unforgettable moments — from photographing Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip, to Madonna at the BBC, and Gary Barlow in Soweto for Comic Relief.

During my time at OK!, I covered numerous celebrity weddings, both independently and as part of a team. Highlights include Wayne Rooney’s wedding in Portofino, Mel B’s in Egypt, Amanda Holden’s at Babington House, Holly Willoughby’s in Arundel, and Tom Fletcher and Giovanna Fletcher’s wedding in London — to name just a few.

Beyond OK!, I was also the official photographer for Strictly Come Dancing, and have worked freelance for a wide range of respected media outlets and organisations including The Evening StandardBBCITVChannel 4The Guardian, S Magazine, Daily Express, and multiple PR agencies. My work has also extended into website content creation and brand photography.

I’m proud to be a preferred supplier for venues such as Chewton Glen, Cliveden House, and Coworth Park, where I’ve collaborated with leading wedding and event planners on a variety of bespoke projects.

My background in celebrity and editorial photography has translated seamlessly into the wedding world. In many ways, I often feel there are strong parallels between a wedding day and a magazine shoot — the excitement during hair and makeup, the collaboration between creatives, the attention to detail in fashion and styling, and the shared goal of creating something unforgettable. Working alongside talented makeup artists, dress designers, florists, stylists, and planners is one of the aspects of weddings I love most. There’s a real energy in bringing together a team of creative people to deliver an experience that feels both effortless and extraordinary for the couple.

At the heart of my work is storytelling. I’m drawn to the genuine, emotional moments that unfold naturally throughout a wedding day — the quiet anticipation before the ceremony, the laughter between friends, the atmosphere on the dance floor, and all the fleeting in-between moments that might otherwise go unnoticed. I believe wedding photography should feel timeless, elegant, and full of life, while still reflecting the individuality of every couple I photograph.

Having won an International Wedding Photography Award, I feel incredibly grateful to be recognised for doing something I genuinely love. My approach combines an editorial eye with a relaxed, documentary style, allowing couples to feel fully present in their day while I capture the story unfolding around them. Above all, I bring a friendly, open approach to every wedding, creating photographs that not only look beautiful, but feel meaningful for years to come.
